Katharine McPhee and David Foster are speaking up after the death of their nanny Yadira Calito.
"It's been tough for her," Foster told ET in a joint interview with McPhee. "Yeah, it's been tough. She's managing."
Calito was killed in an accident, according to reports from ET and the Los Angeles Times. McPhee and record producer Foster cut their Asia musical tour short due to the family tragedy.
"It's with heavy heart I announce I have to miss our final 2 shows of our Asia run," McPhee, 39, wrote in an Instagram post last month. "David and I have had a horrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us needs to get back home to our family. Please know how sorry I am and how much I wish to return one day and perform for you all."
"Sending my love and prayers for your family," singer Nicole Scherzinger commented on the post. Linda Thompson, songwriter and Foster's ex-wife, added: "Sending you and David love, & hoping that everything is OK."
ET notes the pair has resumed touring and will be dropping new music later this fall.
McPhee and Foster, 73, tied the knot in 2019, and McPhee gave birth to their first child, a son named Rennie, together in 2021. Foster also has five adult children.
McPhee said earlier this year she was loving mom life since welcoming Rennie and wanted to keep growing their family.
"I would love to have another baby, but we'll see," the singer-actress revealed to fellow "American Idol" alum Jennifer Hudson in a clip from "The Jennifer Hudson Show" published online at the time.
In June 2020, the couple celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary, with McPhee sharing photos of their nuptials on Instagram.
"A year ago today I married the love of my life," she wrote. "Thank you for always loving me and inspiring me in all aspects of my life. I love you. Here’s to the future!"
